HH 88 Hitler license plate

The other day my wife stopped at a red light in our homeland of Brooklyn,  NY.  In front of her was a BMW with the license plate HH 88. As anyone with even a passing knowledge of the topics is well aware both HH (Heil Hitler!) and 88 (h being the 8th letter in the alphabet) is a typical greeting among far right and neo-nazi groups in both the US and Europe. Since the NY State department of motor vehicles is said to be fairly strict on the issuing of “offensive” vanity plates, my wife emailed the authorities and brought the HH 88 plate to their attention. After some time went by with no response,  she sent another email. Again no response. All for free speech even on license plates,  but seems like more action is called for. Will tell you what happens.
